Advertising on YouTube is easy, but is it always the best route to take? Users are spending countless amounts of hours watching videos every day, which means they're likely tired of seeing ads. In other words, advertising isn't exactly the most subtle approach nowadays. There are better ways of going about product promotion, at least from a marketing standpoint.
The primary thing you want to keep in mind is how you are going to incorporate what you're promoting in your content. If your marketing technique is obvious, others will pick up on it right away. Analyze your content, the audience you're creating for, and then go from there.
A method that consistently seems to work is naturally mentioning your product or service in a topic or conversation that already exists. For example, let's say you work for Apple. Creating a video that screams, "Buy this iPhone!" isn't going to work. Instead, you want to create a video that contains information others can actually use — such as a walkthrough of the latest iPhone tips. Now replace iPhone with your brand, and you're off to a great start.
Promote exclusive offers.
If someone is already subscribed to your channel, then that means you're doing something right. They trust you as a source for quality content. It's not a bad idea to reward them for their support now and then, especially if it means offering an exclusive offer of some kind. This can include a higher than usual percentage discount on a product that you've featured in past videos.
Give it away for free.
A great way of attracting potential customers is to run promotional contests and/or giveaways. This not only encourages your audience to interact for the purpose of getting something for completely free, but it's also a seamless way of getting the word out about your brand. People love free stuff, so why not take advantage of the opportunity?
Invite affiliates to participate.
If your brand currently offers an affiliate program, let your community know in videos. A brief mention is all it takes. The ability to earn a commission is a nice incentive for customers to participate and recommend your product to others. They make a little bit of cash and your brand continues to expand. It's a win-win scenario.
YouTube is an exceptional platform for brand promotion, as the possibilities are endless. Experiment with a variety of techniques and hone in on the ones that best apply to your brand and audience. After all, you'll never be sure without trying.
