The days of paying for an expensive notebook are now behind us, especially if you're looking to use it for everyday tasks. This includes web browsing, word processing and yep, you guessed it — blogging. There is no better time than now to consider picking up a notebook specifically for the purpose of blogging on the go.
The following are five notebooks that cost just $200 or less and are no larger than 13 inches in screen size, making for great ultraportables. Below you can purchase them directly via Amazon. Prices may vary.
HP Stream 11 - $199
Probably one of HP's most intriguing products in a while, the Stream 11 sports an 11.6-inch display, 32 GB of local storage, 2 GB of RAM and a fanless design. With up to 8 hours of battery life and the ability to expand its storage via the included SD card slot and USB ports, the Stream 11 offers a great on-the-go Windows 8.1 solution for bloggers.
Bonus: Includes 1 year of Office 365 and 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage
Acer Aspire E 11 - $199
Acer's Aspire E 11 is practically identical to the HP Stream 11 in specs. It features an 11.6-inch display, 32 GB of local storage and 2 GB of RAM. Unlike the Stream 11, however, the Aspire E 11's battery only provides a max of 5 hours. The only advantage it seems to offer is an HD webcam, which may or may not be an important feature to some.
ASUS X205TA - $179
Featuring an impressive 12-hour battery life, the ASUS X205TA offers by default 32 GB of local storage and free access to a 500 GB cloud-powered WebStorage drive for two years. The 1.33 GHz Intel Atom processor may not be something to brag about, but it certainly gets the job done with Windows 8.1 — especially considering the attractive price tag.
ASUS C300 - $189
The ASUS C300 runs Chrome OS, making it a Chromebook. In other words, this particular notebook does not run the traditional Windows software that you are most likely used to. That's not a bad thing, however. With plenty of software to use online and offline, the C300 features a nice 13.3-inch display, as well as access to two years of 100 GB of cloud storage via Google Drive.
Acer C720 - $199
Like the ASUS C300, Acer's C720 is a Chromebook for those looking to try something new. From the 11.6-inch anti-glare display to an impressive battery life of up to 8.5 hours, the C720 is a notebook easily worth looking into. Despite its lackluster 16 GB of local storage, users still have the option of expansion using the notebook's dual USB ports.
Deciding between a traditional Windows notebook and Chromebook is purely up to the user, but it's safe to say that each offers a quality experience. And for the price of $199 or less, there's no real risk involved. No matter which of the notebooks above you decide to purchase, one thing is for sure — you're getting a great deal as a blogger who is looking to be productive without having to be tethered to a desk.
