Di Franco University: Looking Ahead

Coming up on its first anniversary since launch, Di Franco University has gone through a lot. In just ten months, the website has not only seen a variety of changes in its overall layout, but it's also home to 100+ original articles containing a plethora of useful information — including 45 posts featured in The Vault alone.

In other words, I have put a lot of work into having Di Franco University grow at a steady rate. But I'm still just getting started. With the new year being only a few days away, I have some big plans in mind that I would like to put into effect. And while some of these plans are going to require a bit of time to complete, I'm still excited to discuss what's to come.

Completely new look

The first change that you are going to notice in early 2017 is that Di Franco University will feel more educational than it does now. This will bring a completely new layout to the website, including a more streamlined way of finding and consuming content that pertains to your interests. Whether you are a video creator or designing websites is your thing, a tighter focus is sure to guide you in the right direction.

Let's just say that Squarespace has some neat features I'm looking forward to taking advantage of. Design is going to be a big focus of mine next year.

Improved focus on community

Another thing that I would like to introduce at some point is a heavier emphasis on the community. I think it would be great if there was one centralized location on Di Franco University where fellow creatives could talk amongst one another. This would not only be a great place to showcase your work, but requesting feedback from the community could prove quite useful.

Community is something that I have always been passionate about, especially after seeing the kind of effect it can have on my Patreon campaign. It would be great to take what I've learned throughout the years and apply it in ways that can help others succeed and grow their brand.

Di Franco University's branding

And speaking of branding, I believe that is one area where Di Franco University could greatly improve in. While the website already has plenty of original content to offer, its branding has yet to be finalized into something that is recognized universally. I plan on resolving this issue by designing a logo that is brand friendly — one that works well across the board. What will the logo design entail? Well, that remains to be seen, but it's definitely something that I will prioritize in the coming weeks.

It's hard to believe that Di Franco University is less than one year old. To me, it feels longer than that. I have made sure to remain consistent in publishing new content on a weekly basis, as well as tweak any visual elements that can help improve the overall feel of the site. It's a project that means a lot to me, and one that will be around for the long haul.

If you missed the initial 'grand opening' of Di Franco University, check out my introduction video below. You will notice how much the website has changed over the months, but I think we can all agree in saying that the content has always been its primary focus. I'm excited to continue putting work into the site throughout 2017. It's going to be a great, productive year.
