Since the beginning, my Patreon campaign has typically seen steady growth month over month. Performance continues to improve, and patrons overall seem pretty pleased. I am sharing more exclusive content than ever nowadays, especially when factoring in the exclusive vlogs. As of today, there are exactly 100 of them available to watch. That's a lot of content!
But how much is too much?
Speaking in regards to Patreon.com specifically, the website is too limiting — at least from a content delivery perspective. Don't get me wrong, what it does for creators is simply incredible. It's quite literally a game-changer that has forever altered the way creators deliver to and communicate with an audience. However, when it comes to displaying content for patrons to find and access, the user interface on Patreon.com feels very... clunky.
For example, try finding an exclusive vlog that I uploaded back in 2015. Doing this via Patreon.com is challenging and time consuming. Currently, patrons are required to view my Patreon profile, click 'Posts' and then endlessly navigate through the long pages of content. There are only so many times a person can click 'Load More' before going crazy. I feel your pain.
But... I have a solution. And I think you'll like what you see.
Launching today is a new website that is dedicated to my Patreon campaign. Simply called David's Patreon Campaign, the website neatly organizes all the exclusive content that is currently offered to patrons, as well as some incentive content for potential patrons who might be interested in pledging.
The primary navigation displays everything you need quick access to, making the website incredibly easy to understand and navigate. You'll notice right away that the Patreon Updates are now located on this website. Going this route makes more sense than publishing them on my personal website. It's also nice to have a dedicated page for the updates alone.
So, let's talk about the exclusive vlogs. They are actually what motivated me to create this new website in the first place. Because today marks the release of the 100th exclusive vlog, it's time to make a change that benefits everyone. Going to the Exclusive Vlogs page, you are presented with a clean, grid-like layout of every exclusive vlog that has ever been published.
Seriously, every single vlog is there, title and all. And even better, they're categorized by year of release. Are you looking for a vlog that was recorded during the 2016 holidays? Not a problem. Perhaps you're interested in learning more about my initial impressions of the Apple Watch? Yep, that's also there. Just click on the thumbnail of your choice and you'll be redirected to the corresponding Patreon post.
Remember when I introduced the Patrons Showcase alongside the redesign of my personal website? Allow me to let you in on a little secret... That was just a preview of things to come.
With my new Patreon website comes an all-new page that is completely dedicated to patrons and any links they are interested in promoting. Head on over to the Patrons Showcase and see if you can find anything of interest! From one fellow creative to the next, a little bit of exposure never hurts.
And finally, the Google Hangouts are once again accessible by the public! For a while I decided to not publish them to my YouTube channel. However, with this new website, I figured they deserve their own page. Similar to the exclusive vlogs, all the Hangouts can now be watched in one location.
For those not familiar with Google Hangouts, they're 10-person video calls that I host once a month with fellow patrons. It's our chance to kick back, relax and talk about whatever comes up. And of course, there are always plenty of snacks and drinks available to get us through the long nights.
There you have it. My Patreon campaign has officially graduated onto something much bigger and overall more pleasing to the user. As always, I want to express how thankful I am for everyone's support. I definitely could not have done this without you, that's for sure. Check out my video tour below for an in-depth look at everything that is new.
If you're interested in joining my Patreon community, the "Become a Patron" button is always located in the top-right corner of the website. Give it a click to enjoy the exclusive content! This is only the beginning.
